Enzymes are proteins that enable molecules to undergo chemical change. Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is a compound that is present in almost all living organisms. But hydrogen peroxide is harmful to cells. Consequently, most living organisms have an enzyme called peroxidase to protect against H2O2. Use what you have learned to explain how peroxidase behaves like an enzyme to help protect the body against H2O2. (hint: What do enzymes do?)
