Enzymes are proteins that enable molecules to undergo chemical change. Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is a compound that is present in almost all living organisms. But hydrogen peroxide is harmful to cells. Consequently, most living organisms have an enzyme called peroxidase to protect against H2O2.
