Metabolic rate is regulated by thyroid hormones. The hypothalamus secretes thyroid-releasing hormone (TRH), which stimulates the pituitary gland to release thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). The TSH then stimulates the thyroid to release thyroid hormones. The diagram shows the thyroid hormone pathway, which is a negative feedback mechanism. Which would most likely occur if too much thyroid hormone is released?

The hypothalamus would not release TRH.
