Several studies involving molecular analyses of Comb jellies, also known as sea gooseberries, cast doubt on the theory that sponges are the oldest animal phylum. Reported results of the studies suggested that Comb jellies, more complex animals having muscles and a nervous system, may actually be the true, first phylum of animals that diverged from a metazoan common ancestor. However, in 2015, a team of scientists re-analyzed the genetic data in the Comb jellies research with more specialized methods, and they determined that sponges were indeed the oldest animal phylum. If Comb jellies were actually found to be the oldest animal phylum, how would this information impact our current understanding of the evolution of organisms? A. We would have to re-classify numerous invertebrate species as vertebrate species.
B. We would have to re-classify sponges into groups of organisms that exhibit bilateral symmetry.
C. We would have to rethink our understanding of aspects of early evolution of multicellular animals such as the origins of nervous systems, tissues, and organs.
D. We would have to throw out all fossil evidence of animal diversification thought to occur during the Cambrian period.

What is the difference between sex-linked traits and autosomal traits in humans? a. sex-linked traits can only be passed from fathers to sons, while autosomal traits can be passed on from both parents to offspring of any sex. b. sex-linked traits are passed on through the x and y chromosomes, while autosomal traits are passed on through the other 22 chromosomes. c. sex-linked traits only affect females, while autosomal traits affect both males and females. d. sex-linked traits refer to genes that are on the x and y chromosomes, while autosomal traits refer to genes on all 23 chromosomes.

How do high-energy electrons from glycolysis and the krebs cycle contribute to the formation of atp from adp in the electron transport chain? a. high-energy electrons interact with pyruvic acid to create a phosphate bond with adp, forming atp. b. high-energy electrons supply the needed energy to synthesize atp from the lower-energy adp in the electron transport chain. c. high-energy electrons supply a negative charge which causes the citric acid to oxidize, forming a phosphate group to bond with adp. d. high-energy electrons increase the temperature of adp so it easily reacts to form atp.
