The species protists have some kind of organelle for their locomotion. Some forms of protists move by floating but a majority of the protists move either through flagella or cilia which categorizes them as ciliates or flagellates. Some of the protists use pseudopodia for feeding as well as for locomotion.

Both cilia and flagella are similar structurally, the only distinction being flagella are longer.
