These are based on special type of fractured rock (limestone, dolomite or magnesite) in which when water comes from any natural source like rain dissolves the soft rocks, thereby the size of the fractures increase which may act as a channel to deposit water in the under surface of rocks. The groundwater in the Karst aquifer is vulnerable to pollution because of the rocks gets solubilize by the affect of water from external source. The contaminant from these rocks can be quickly transferred to the groundwater.
