Explain how the file snake population in a region is likely to be affected by the prolonged inundation of a flood-plain.

The file snake, Acrochordus arafurae, is an aquatic, nocturnal  snake native to northern Australia, Africa  and New Guinea. They are about eight feet long, non venomous and live about nine years. Their population varies seasonally. During prolonged inundation of a floodplain, such as during the rainy season, they are plentiful. During the dry season, they migrate to swampy, back areas, or billabongs.  file snakes have baggy skin with small scales and rough outgrowths, so it looks like a file.  File snakes eat frogs, lizards and other snakes. File snakes can hold their breath for 40 minutes, so they are well adapted to water. 

The moths will eventually become extinct
