Describe the origin of each strand of the new double helices created after dna

The process of DNA replication is a semi-conservative process; therefore each newly replicated helices contains one strand from the parent, and one daughter strand. 

Explanation; 
Replication of DNA is an important process especially during cell division, The two strands of DNA molecule have complementary base pairs and therefore, each of these strands contains the information needed to produce another strand. Each can be used as a pattern or template to produce a complementary strand. Finally each template and its new complement together form a new DNA helix, identical to the original. This is referred to as semi-conservative process because each new strand formed would have one strand from the original DNA molecule and a new complementary strand.
