What would happen if the sand dunes in an area were destroyed?

Some say that what we see today is a natural process. Sometimes we see vegetation advance over what was once a region of sand dunes. Vegetation takes care of sand dunes at a rate of 10% to 20% per decade, the researchers concluded in the 2000s, in a study of the sedimentation chronology of the Holocen interglacial period.

Also, in recent decades, human intervention has tugged at natural change - and intensified it. The stabilized dunes stimulate urbanization. The summer houses act as barriers to wind-laden sand and fix the soil even more permanently than the grass roots, reinforcing the disappearance of the dunes. If all remains as it is, even if the climate fluctuations continue as they were and in a few centuries the climate becomes drier again in a region, the geologist believes that the dunes will not extend again in the long fields.
