There are also complex pathways with receptors in specialized organs these are the smell, taste, vision, audition and balance, To determine the distribution of touch receptors in the skin a two point discrimination test can be done. These can determine which part of the skin has loss its sensory capacity. Sensory coding depends on the action potentials which is provided by the CNS.
