Type 1 diabetes usually begins in childhood and is a result of hereditary traits from a person’s set of parents. This condition occurs commonly where a person experiences episodes of low blood sugar. Type 1 diabetes unlike type 2 diabetes can’t be prevented and a person has to go through this condition his entire life.

Type 2 diabetes on the other hand is a disease that sets during adulthood where symptomes can be left undiagnosed for a long period of time. This disease can be prevented when a person is taking diabetes medications (e.g. metphormine) and ultimately a conscious choice of living a positive lifestyle (e.g. diet and exercise)
