In all of the mentioned cases, the influence of air pollution is not directly associated with the toxicity of the gases. The ocean acidification and acid rain take place when the pollutant gases in the environment react to produce acid. Smog influences the environment by filtering out sunlight and leaving less for the plants to utilize. Global warming takes place as greenhouse gases make Earth hold more of the heat, which it had captivated from the Sun.
