Do a simple Monte Carlo simulation, using any computing tool you like. Assume your plant is going to assemble 1,000 bolt hole combinations. The bolts have a mean diameter of 1.000 cm, normally distributed with standard deviation of 0.010 cm. The holes have a mean diameter of 1.030 cm, normally distributed with standard deviation of 0.015 cm. When it's time to make an assembly, a bolt and a hole are randomly selected from populations of parts with these characteristics. If a pair doesn't go together because the bolt is too big (same size as, or larger than the hole), that pair of parts is recycled. Required:
After trying to assemble 1,000 pairs, how many have to be recycled?
