FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS Assignment due: Monday, Nov. 30. Report must contain a minimum of three paragraphs. Is the way to your heart through the stomach? This lesson seeks to capitalize on the healthy appetites of students and your love of cooking to improve your skill in following directions. You are about to begin a three-part activity that involves food, following directions, and writing. Choose a recipe, either online or in print that is both appealing and nutritious. You may prefer All Recipes. Other recipe sources are available online, but students should be aware that all selections must be appropriate and easily made in a home kitchen. If possible, make the recipe so that you can give it a true review. Try using recipes that require ingredients commonly found in the kitchen and those that do not demand expensive or exotic materials and tools. If you need ideas, feel free to ask me for some easy, tried and true recipes that students LOVE. When you select your recipe, then you will be ready for the third part of the assignment -- the review. In a written composition, students should evaluate the effectiveness of a recipe's instructions and its taste. Questions to be answered include ο‚· Was the recipe clear and easy to follow? ο‚· Were all needed ingredients and cooking tools identified? ο‚· What additional information should cooks be given within the recipe? ο‚· What is the most complicated part of the recipe? ο‚· How nutritious is this recipe? ο‚· Is it possible to calculate the approximate calories in each serving, or is the information provided? ο‚· Does the recipe offer variations for specific dietary needs? ο‚· Is this recipe one you would recommend? ο‚· Based on your experience, how would you rate the resource from which this recipe comes? Reviews may feature the following elements, ο‚· A title ο‚· The student's name ο‚· The recipe's source ο‚· The title of the recipe ο‚· The author of the recipe, if provided ο‚· A rating of some type for the recipe, for example, one to five stars or a letter grade ο‚· An explanation of the rating ο‚· A critique of the directions and how they might be improved ο‚· If you made the item, a description of the taste of the dish ο‚· A general overview of the recipe resource ο‚· An overall opinion of the recipe, positive or negative.
