While you like your friend, you politely decline because you really want to go to the concert. A) You learn that your friend is serving flank steak at her party, all-you-can eat and at no charge. a) Opportunity costs refer to the extra costs or benefits lost associated with choosing one activity or investment over another alternative. In other words, every  activity that you carry out includes the opportunity cost of not doing something else.

If you decide to go to the concert, your opportunity cost has increased. it is not only your friend's party, but it is also your favorite meal. This last part might make you change your mind.
