American Airline provides three ticket classes: First, Business and Economy class. There are two types of customers with different profit contributions. One is the AAdvantage Club Member, the other is the Non-AA member. The profit per customer for each type of customer and ticket class is as follows: Ticket Class Economy Business First Customer Type Non-AA member $30 $35 - AA member $20 $30 $40 American Airline does not offer First class tickets to Non-AA members. AA's management makes a forecast of the demand by ticket class for each flight in the future. The demand forecast for a particular flight is 130 customers in the Economy class, 60 in the Business class, and 50 in the First class. (These demands are the maximum numbers to accept for each ticket class. The actual customers may be less for each class.) American Airline has a booking limit for each customer type: 100 seats for Non-AA members and 120 seats for AA members. (The booking limit allows AA to accept reservation up to certain numbers for each customer type.) Use a linear programming model developed to maximize profit for AA and determine how many reservations to accept for each ticket class under each customer type.

Acompany that makes shopping carts for supermarkets and other stores recently purchased some new equipment that reduces the labor content of the jobs needed to produce the shopping carts. prior to buying the new equipment, the company used 6 workers, who produced an average of 79 carts per hour. workers receive $16 per hour, and machine coast was $49 per hour. with the new equipment, it was possible to transfer one of the workers to another department, and equipment cost increased by $11 per hour while output increased by four carts per hour. a) compute the multifactor productivity (mfp) (labor plus equipment) under the prior to buying the new equipment. the mfp (carts/$) = (round to 4 decimal places). b) compute the productivity changes between the prior to and after buying the new equipment. the productivity growth = % (round to 2 decimal places)

Oerstman, inc. uses a standard costing system and develops its overhead rates from the current annual budget.the budget is based on an expected annual output of 120,000 units requiring 480,000 direct labor hours.(practical capacity is 500,000 hours)annual budgeted overhead costs total $772,800, of which $556,800 is fixed overhead.a total of 119,300 units, using 478,000 direct labor hours, were produced during the year.actual variable overhead costs for the year were $260,400 and actual fixed overhead costs were $555,450.required: 1. compute the fixed overhead spending variance and indicate if favorable or unfavorable.2. compute the fixed overhead volume variance and indicate if favorable or unfavorable.
