Managerial Roles Managers are required to wear many hats and fulfill many roles. Mintzberg found that managers’ work is fast paced and characterized by fragmentation, brevity, and variety. Mintzberg also identified three categories of managerial roles, with nine specific roles within those categories. This activity is important because it is necessary for you to understand just what roles you will fulfill as a manager, and what the expectations for those roles are, in order to perform them successfully. The goal of this activity is to challenge your knowledge of the different managerial roles.
