A large portion of today’s advertising and marketing occurs online and on social media platforms. In this activity, you will work with at least two other students, friends, or family members to create a social media marketing campaign for a national brand. As you work on the activity, keep in mind that you will be evaluated on not only the social media campaign but also how you interact with your team members. As you work together, look for opportunities to apply interpersonal skills. Be sure to actively demonstrate at least five of the following: Dependability
Trustworthiness
Confidence
Time management
Work ethic
Professionalism
Accepting criticism
Respect
Communication
Commitment
To create your social media marketing campaign, follow these instructions:

Choose a national brand to promote via social media. This could be a popular restaurant, clothing brand, or electronics company, for instance.
Brainstorm ideas for a social marketing campaign that will increase either the company’s sales or consumer awareness of the brand. As you brainstorm with your team, be sure to practice active listening skills. Maintain eye contact with your team members, and if you don’t understand something one of your teammates says, ask for clarification. You may wish to peruse the social media campaigns at the this link for ideas.
Devise a plan for launching your social media marketing campaign. This plan should include the following:
A statement of intention that includes the name of the brand as well as the specific purpose of the campaign
Example: The social media campaign for Gap will attract 5,000 additional followers on Twitter, leading to increased consumer awareness.
A hashtag for the social media campaign
Example: #GapGlam
A detailed plan for how the social media campaign will be carried out, including the following:
The social media network or networks where the campaign will be launched
At least three specific posts that will be published on social media as part of the campaign
