1. He gave them to us to ensure that WE, too, would see our inability to fulfill them on our own, in our own strength, to make it brutally evident to us that everyone of us sins and falls short of God's purity, righteousness, and glory, and so is in desperate need of a Savior.

2. God proclaimed the Israelites to be his own people, commanding them to listen to him and observe His commandments. These commandments were the Ten Commandments, which Moses received on two stone tablets. They established the fundamental principles that would govern the Israelites' lives.

3. By heeding his call to care for this land, we get a better comprehension of him and gain a better grasp on his heart and goals for our life. Obedience also promotes personal development. Each instruction God issues to us is not just for his benefit, but also for ours. The summons to obedience is for our own good.
