                   Monosaccharides (monomers) like glucose join together to form a long chain compound called as polymer. These monosachharides are joint together by a bond called as Glycosidic bond which formed by the elimination of water molecule. i.e.

                        R--OH  +  R--OH        →         R--O--R    +   H₂O

In above reaction R----O----R is known as Glucosidic Linkage.

The number of water molecules formed during a polymerization reaction are calculated as,

               Number of Monomers  -  1  =  Number of Water molecules

As, the number of Glucose molecules given are 10, so,

               Number of Glucose  -  1  =  Number of Water molecules
