A nuclear reactor produces and controls the release of energy from splitting the atoms of uranium. Uranium-fueled nuclear power is a clean and efficient way of boiling water to make steam which drives turbine generators.

The heart of the nuclear power plant is the nuclear reactor.

In the nuclear reactor, energy is generated by splitting the Uranium atoms. It is cleanest and the effective way to produce steam and generate electricity.  

In the core of the reactor, fission reaction occurs where the Isotope,uranium-235 splits into smaller atoms and large amount of energy and heat is generated. This is a chain reaction reaction and can be controlled by a moderator like graphite.

In boiling water reactor, the reactor core is surrounded by water or sometimes water is directly fed into the reactor core where temperature is very high. Here water changes into high temperature steam which is fed into turbine and the turbine is connected to the generator that produces electricity.

Thus electricity is generated in this way in a boiling water reactor.

one would need a beaker which is filled with a known amount of the liquid in which thermometer is placed to measure the temperature changes; after addition of the additive to the liquid solution one can note down the temperature change and find whether the reaction is endothermic or exothermic in nature. by subtracting the initial temperature value with the final temperature one can find the temperature changes.

various combinations of liquid and additive can be used. liquid in this case can be a known quantity of water and additives can be epsom salt or without epsom salt the experiment can be conducted to notice the changes. water and ice, hydrogen peroxide and dry yeast, vinegar and baking soda,etc.
