The cells of multicellular organisms, like you and me, become specialized for particular tasks and communicate with one another to maintain homeostasis. cells, tissues and organs all to maintain the organism's internal environment. but what about a unicellular organism? does it maintain homeostasis? if yes, what part of the cell plays a part in this process? a) yes, the dna directs what happens inside the cell at all times. b) no. because these cells live in water, internal balance is automatic. c) yes, the cell membrane along with the nucleus maintain internal balance. d) no. internal balance in unicellular organisms is based on osmosis of water into and out of the cell.
