This suggests that even if we don't have a complete substance, we can be sure that by knowing the mass of a unit of a body one can easily estimate how much heat is required to raise its temperature. The specific heat is fundamental in calculating the heat capacity of a body. Without the value of the specific heat, we cannot evalutate the heat capacity of a body.
