Two compartments are separated by a semi-permeable membrane. in the left hand compartment is the sodium salt of a protein nap. assume nap dissociates completely to na+ and p-. the initial concentration of sodium ion in the left hand chamber is 0.0100m. in the right hand chamber is a nacl solution in which the initial concentration of sodium is 0.100m. the membrane is impermeable to the protein p- but fully permeable to the na+ and cl-. all concentrations in this problem can be given in molarity (m) units.
a. calculate the equilibrium concentration of chloride ion in the left hand compartment. give answer in units of molarity.
b. calculate the equilibrium concentration of chloride ion in the right hand compartment. give answer in units of molarity.
c. calculate the equilibrium concentration of sodium ion in the right hand compartment. give answer in units of molarity.
d. calculate the equilibrium concentration of sodium ion in the left hand compartment. give answer in units of molarity.
e. calculate the net osmotic pressure across the membrane. give your answer in si units. t=310k.
f. calculate the donnan potential. use si units. again assume t=310k.

Electromagnets coils of wire paper clips picked up 10 3 15 6 20 9 25 12 ms. owens' class was studying magnets. ms. owens showed her students how to make an electromagnet using a nail, a d-cell battery, and plastic coated wire. the students wrapped the wire around the nail and then attached the ends to the battery. when they were finished, they tested their magnets by investigating how many paperclips their magnets could pick up. they also tested whether they could increase the strength of their electromagnets by using more coils of wire. they recorded the class average of their results in the data table seen here. ms. owens asked her students to graph their data in a line graph. how should the students label the x-axis on their line graph? a) size of battery b) number of paper clips c) number of coils of wire d) strength of electromagnet
