A student has a mixture of solid sand and NaCl(aq) in a flask. To obtain solid NaCl from this mixture, the student should

(1) Remove the sand by filtration, then evaporate the water.

(2) Remove the NaCl by filtration, and then distill the liquid.

(3) Remove the sand by filtration, then use chromatography to remove the NaCl

(4) Evaporate the water, then filter the sand and salt.
