"Woof" is a dog's bark if you want to say it in words. There are other kind of barks, but people take 'woof' to their kids saying that's the dog bark, but it's not.

Bigger-medium dogs will say--fine---woof.

Medium-small dogs will say bow-wow or woof.

Small-very small dogs will say bow-wow-wo-wo-bow!

As you can see, there are different dog barks. Which dog do you have? I have a German Shepherd. It will say woof. But if you want to get correct-correct, dogs usually say woo, woo for woof and boaw-boaw for bow-wow and boaw woo woo boa for bow-wow-wo-wo-bow.
