Hydrogen peroxide is a syrupy, viscous water-soluble compound. This is expected based on the structure. The Lewis structure has total valence electrons. There are ___ bonding pairs and non-bonding pairs. The electron pair geometry around each oxygen atom is giving a shape at each oxygen atom. The central bond is (polar/nonpolar) and the peripheral bonds are (polar/nonpolar) with the dipole vectors pointing (away from/towards) the oxygen atoms. Overall the bond dipoles (add together/cancel out) to give a (polar/nonpolar) molecule with partial (positive/negative) charges on the hydrogen atoms and partial (positive/negative) charges on the oxygen atoms. This allows the hydrogen peroxide molecules to participate in which leads to the high viscosity and water solubility.

Consider hydrogen in an excited state n = 5n=5 that emits photons to reach the ground state. there are various possible transitions other than straight to the ground state that can occur; for example, it can drop to the n = 3n=3 state followed by the n = 3n=3 to the ground state transition. which of the possible transitions will result in the emission of a photon in the visible region?
