Which of the following combinations cannot produce a buffer solution? A. HOCI and Naci
B. H2SO4 and Na2SO4
C. HCIO4 and NaClO4
D. HNO2 and KNO2
E. NH3 and (NH4)2SO4
F. HF and NaF
G. HCN and LiCN
Look at sample problem 19.1 in the 8th ed Silberberg book. Write the equation for the acid dissociation, write the Ka expression, solve for H concentration, then do an ICE chart. Put the values into the Ka expression (the one you solved for H and find H , convert to pH and input that to 2 decimal place. Or use the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation:
pH = pk, + log ( (19.1) acid
Calculate the pH of a buffer solution consisting of 0.59 M HA (Ka = 2.6 x 10") and 0.7 M.
