The findings of Stanley Milgram’s studies on obedience demonstrated that: 1) about 40% of people would shock others if ordered to do so by a credible figure from a respected institution. 2) participants in the Milgram studies who believed they were shocking victims to the maximum displayed significant distress in later follow-up visits that most often required therapy. 3) if a person were to resist the shocking orders, they most likely resisted immediately and never administered a shock during the experiment. 4) 65 percent of the participants continued to administer shocks to the very end of the session.
