Explain the difference between the way a molecule (which does not ionize) dissolves and an ionic compound dissolves, using sugar water and salt water as an example

The molecules (which do not ionize) dissolves in water depends on the polarity of molecules while the ionic compounds that dissolve in water depend on the electric charge of the compound.

For example sugar dissolves in water because of the polar nature of sugar which releases energy and form intermolecular bonds with the polar water molecules.

While salt dissolves in water as salt has a net electric charge that attracted by the oppositely charged ions present in the water. The attractive force between salt and water is stronger than sodium and chloride and allow salt to dissolve in the water.
