After completing the observation table in the virtual lab, write a lab report with the following sections: Introduction (T/I): Describe the difference between chemical and physical properties, and describe
the different quantitative and qualitative properties investigated. (5 marks)
Observations (COMM): Include the completed observations table (template can be found within
the virtual lab); be clear and include specific details in your observations. (5 marks)
Calculations (COMM): Include sample calculations for calculating the density of one of the
elements or compounds. Show all steps, units, and most importantly accuracy. (2 marks)
Discussion Questions (T/I):
1. Use the Substance Key found at the end of the virtual lab to correctly determine the identify of
each of the mystery substances on your data table (3 marks)
2. Compare the similarities and differences for the properties of sodium bicarbonate and sodium
chloride (2 marks).
3. Which substances showed the best levels of electrical conductivity? What do you think those
substances have in common? (1 mark)
4. Campers are often taught to arrange their firewood in a triangular or tent-like pattern to start
their fires more easily. Reference the results of your gas test and explain why this might be the
case. (2 marks)
Ensure you cite all online sources you used for research and include a References section at the
end of your lab report in APA format!).
