when light hits the surface of an object the energy is transferred into the particles in the surface of the object thats why when u leave somthing by a window or outside in the sun it warms up and when it hits object that isnt clear enough to reflect or disperce the object obsorbes the white light and some of the colors of the white light thats why you see a rainbow like color when you put the object in the light.
