For example, a United States writer who writes about weight in pounds(lb) and ounce(oz) might not be easily understood by a reader in many other countries of the world. This is because the reader might not be able to convert the measurement using the standards of the SI units where weight is measured in kilograms(kg).

The international system of units is the upgraded system of measurement from the metric system and it is used by almost all the countries of the world except three countries of which the United States is included.
