Neon lights are used in many signs and commercial displays. The lights give off a unique red light. These lights work by passing an electric current through a glass tube filled with neon gas (noble gas). Neon gas produces a red color; however “neon” lights can be found in a variety of colors. Use what you know about photos and atomic structure to explain how it is possible to produce other colors of “neon” light.
