Chloroform (CHCl3) is produced on large scales through the reaction between methane and chlorine gas. Hydrogen chloride gas is formed as a by-product. CH4(g) + 3Cl2(g) ร  3HCl(g) + CHCl3(l)

a) Calculate the theoretical yield of chloroform (CHCl3) when 500 g of methane reacts with excess chlorine gas. Show working.
