Adaptation to Changing Environments Two friends were talking about how climate change may impact polar bears. The friends agreed that the
arctic environment where polar bears live is changing rapidly. However, they each had different ideas on
what happens when an organism's environment changes so that is very different from the organism's
existing environment. This is what they said:
Sara: "I don't think individual polar bears can adapt to the changes occurring in their environment."
Derek: "I think individual polar bears can adapt to the changes occurring in their environment."
Questions:
1. Who do you agree with? Sarah or Derek?
2. Explain why you agree with that person.
