  Electrons are found orbiting the atom.

When the number of protons and electrons in an atom is the same, an atom is said to be neutral. For the neutral atom, the number of electrons is 4.

If the number of electrons is greater than the number of protons, an atom is negatively charged. So, for the negatively charged atom, the number of electrons is more than that of protons.

the atomic number will stay the same no matter how many electrons it has, so it doesn’t decrease nor increase. it’ll only change with a different number of protons
