Students set up the stream table apparatus seen here. They began their experimentation with trials to determine the velocity of a stream at various inclines. Students measured the length of the stream from the head to the mouth of
the stream. They began with one block under the head of the stream table. A steady flow of water was directed
through the opening at the head of the stream. Once the water was flowing, a cork with a string attached was placed
at the headed of the stream. Students timed the movement of the cork from the head to the mouth. They ran three
trials and found the average speed of the cork. They repeated the procedure for a 2-block raise and a 3-block raise.
The results of the students trials can be seen in the data table. Describe the relationship between stream velocity and
incline.
-
A)
There is an inverse relationship between stream velocity and incline of the
stream table.
The greater the incline of the stream table, the greater the velocity of the
stream.
B)
The velocity of the water is not related to the incline of the stream table.
D)
There is a direct proportion between incline and velocity.

Achemical reaction (also known as a chemical change) produces substances that are chemically different from the starting materials. an example of a chemical reaction is the formation of water from hydrogen and oxygen gas.in a physical change, a substance changes its physical appearance but not its chemical identity. an example of physical change is the formation of liquid water from solid water, a familiar process called melting. physically, liquid water looks very different from solid water (ice) but the chemical identity, water, is the same for both. which of following changes that affect the composition of our atmosphere involve physical changes and which involve chemical reactions? oxygen gas changes to ozone during thunderstorms carbon dioxide is produced by the combustion of gasoline in an automobile engine. when coal, oil, and natural gas are decomposed in landsills they produce methane gas. freezing rain develops when a warm air mass overrides a cold air mass. fog forms from water vapor when the temperature drops below the dew point
