Eventually most moths will be spotted. But when the industrial revolution occured, the bark of the trees changed to a darker colour. Therefore the spotted moths were easily seen by predators and were eaten. But the black moths blended in with the bark so they survived. The black moths then passed on their genes to their offspring so most of the moth population had black wings.
