The electrolysis of water is being done in a petri with a solution of salt water, phenolphthalein and two graphite electrodes. The electrodes are attached to a battery and a current begins to flow. After a few seconds bubbles start to form at each of the electrodes. In addition to the bubbles, a pale pink color begins to emerge at one of the electrodes. Which electrode is oxidation occurring and which electrode is reduction occurring. Justify, using experimental evidence.
