D. Geographic Information System
Explanation:
Geographic Information System is the use of images of the surface of the Earth for the realization of studies. It is considered a revolutionary system for cartography because it allows the obtaining of information without the direct contact between the researcher or the equipment and the object of study. Firstly, this technique was used through aerial photographs taken from balloons, already in the nineteenth century, and is currently instrumentalized, preferably by satellites and airplanes.
The Geographic Information System is the set of techniques and technological procedures that aims to represent and collect data from the terrestrial surface without the need for direct contact. Therefore, all information is obtained through sensors and instruments in general. This process is linked to the treatment, storage and analysis of such data in order to better understand the phenomena that appear on the surface.
