Why are strong forces able to hold atomic nuclei together

Explanation: Nuclear forces are those forces which hold together the nuclei of different atoms. These nuclear forces are much stronger than the electrostatic forces of attraction.

As we know that the protons and neutrons are present in the nucleus of an atom around which the electrons move in an elliptical orbit. Thus protons and electrons are held together through electrostatic forces of attraction.

But the nuclei of the 2 atoms are held together by the nuclear forces being repulsive in nature. These forces are short range forces.
