Nuclear fusion is the process by which atomic nuclei combine in order to produce new elements. It is the process utilised by the Sun and all stars in order to produce energy. The main nuclear fusion reaction that occurs within the Sun is four hydrogen nuclei combining to produce a single helium nucleus.
