Consider the following values for the question below. A→B G⁰' = -50 kJ/mol
B→C G⁰' = -23 kJ/mol
C→D G⁰' = -16.8 kJ/mol
D→E G⁰' = 32.4 J/mol
E→F G⁰' = 0.6 kJ/mol
G→M G⁰' = 3.6 kJ/mol
Q→P G⁰' = 78 J/mol
E→P G⁰' = 12 J/mol
(a) Determine the ΔG⁰' for the reaction C→Q. State if the reaction is thermodynamically
favourable or not.
(b) Determine the keq' for the reaction C→Q.
(c) If the intracellular concentrations of the molecules C, E and Q are given below:
C- 19 mM
E- 12 mM
Q- 76 mM
Determine the amount of ATP molecules that would be made in the cell if the
reaction C→Q was coupled to ATP synthesis. Hypothetically the temperature in the
cell is 40⁰C.
Assume that the ΔG⁰'= ΔG for ATP synthesis, in the cell this is 32 kJ/mol.
