Molarity and Ion Concentrations: In a textbook it says molarity measures a molecular compound as it exists within the solution (Example: 1.0M C6H12O6 indicating that it contains 1.0 mol C6H12O6 per liter of solution). However, with an ionic compound it measures it before it dissolves (Example: 1.0M CaCl2 solution contains 1.0 mol Ca and 2.0 mol Cl). Why is it like this? Can’t glucose be broken down the exact same way (6 mol C, 12 mol H, 6 mol 6)?
