"A comet is not actually a star". Give two reasons in favour of this statement.​

A comet is an icy glob of dust, rocks, rubble and frozen gases that (may) periodically approach close enough to the Sun that the solar radiation boils away large volumes of gas and dust from the head, or coma, of the comet. Solar wind repels the result gases and dust away from the coma. Light from the Sun illuminates this stream, resulting in the comet’s tail, which can be hundreds of thousands of kilometers long.

A star is, for the most part, a huge ball of gas - usually hydrogen - that is compressed by gravitational forces until nuclear fusion takes place. Atoms of hydrogen “fuse” and become helium, along with a lot of energy released in the process. Stars are extremely bright as a result of this fusion process.

Short version: Comets are icy blobs of frozen gases, rocks & dust, visible from reflected starlight. Stars *generate* starlight through nuclear fusion, and are ridiculously larger than any comet.
