homologous series is a succession of compound with the exact same functional group and chemical properties that are alike in which the individuals of the series can be branched or even unbranced or contrast by -CH2. The characteristics are):

Members have the same general formula.

Members have common method of preparation.

Members have same functional group.

Members have almost same chemical properties due to same functional group.

Homologous series is defined as a systematic order of structurally similar organic compound containing same functional group in their family and two adjacent members differ in their molecular formula by -CH2 unit.

Characteristics:
