Explanation:

Before information are sent from a source to the destination, it needs to pass through a communication channel or communication path. The first source is called the sender while the destination is called recipient.

These communication channels take the information are referred to as transmission media.

Literally, transmission media are media through which a sender sends a piece of information and they are also the media through which the information are delivered to the receiver.

Data are sometimes transmitted through electronicmagnetic signals.

Two basic types of transmission media are the guided and the unguided transmission media.

Examples of guided transmission media are cables like twisted pair cables, coaxial cables, and fiber optic while examples of unguided transmission media are wireless, such as infrared etc.
