Digital Photography 1a: Introduction UNIT 1 CRITICAL THINKING QUESTIONS

Find your digital camera and pick it up. Hold the camera as if you were going to take a portrait photograph. Pay attention to each and every movement that you make with your hands and body. Put the camera down and pick it up again but this time with the intention of taking a landscape photograph. Do your handholds change at all, and if so, how so? Notice how you grip the camera, how you move with it in your hands, and how you place the camera down and pick it back up again. Explain and describe the specific movements and handholds you utilize throughout the entire process, comparing and contrasting these movements and what feels comfortable or awkward.
Jeremiah just received a camera for his birthday gift. It is used but was very well taken care of and looks almost new. What are some of the basic first steps that Jeremiah should take to get his camera set up? Describe and explain the basic features and functions Jeremiah should set up and the procedures for doing so.
Look around at your surroundings both in your home and outside. Notice the various items, people, and animals that you see. Although digital cameras today are pretty sturdy, they still require basic care and maintenance. Create a basic list of care and maintenance standards and procedures that any digital camera owner would be smart to follow. Briefly explain each item on your list.
