Explain how do telescopes scientists learn more about space

Telescopes are used for a wide range of functions from various scientific communities. For instance, Physicists use telescopes to measure the mass of stars, the distance of matter from one place to another, the speed objects are travelling in the universe, and even the size of our observable universe (thanks to help from the speed of light and the amount of time it takes for us to see light from stars millions or even billions of light-years away.) Astronomers have also used telescopes to measure supernovas and record data to further scientific understanding of the mass of a star before and during its collapse. There are many examples of telescopes helping scientists learn more about not only space, but the origins of life, matter, and our very understanding of the things around us.
