An industrial wind turbine has blades that are 35 m long. on a 20? c day, wind at atmospheric pressure blows with a velocity of 12 m/s , and wind in the turbine wake only has a velocity of 11 m/s . (a) if we assume that all of the kinetic energy lost by the wind is converted to electrical energy by the turbine, then what is the power generated by this turbine? (density is 1.205 kg/m^3) (b) this turbine is rated as a 1.5 mw turbine. if we assume the turbine’s wake is always 1 m/s slower than the ambient wind speed, then how fast would the wind have to be blowing to generate the full 1.5 mw?
